Survey of 5 European countries shows low awareness of fake medicines

According to the survey conducted by happycurious for Sanofi, only 20% of Europeans associate counterfeiting with medicines. 77% of European consumers say they have not been adequately informed or are ignorant on the subject of fake medicines. Event on Medicrime Convention at World Health Assembly

It is undeniable that fake medicines are a growing threat to public health. This February, customs in Le Havre seized 2.4 million doses of counterfeit medicines disguised as tea. In 2012 Swiss companies were implicated in the distribution of counterfeit versions of the cancer drug Avastin.
