15 July 2020, Geneva/ Switzerland – Fight the Fakes (FTF) is delighted to announce that GS1 is joining the campaign, and will be bringing its wealth of knowledge and expertise on healthcare standards to the campaign. Launch of a global education programme to combat COVID-19 scams and #fakemeds!

The Youth IGF Movement, created by Yuliya Morenets, has teamed up with our partner, the Alliance for Safe Online Pharmacy in the EU (ASOP EU), and supported by three French global healthcare companies Ipsen, Sanofi and Servier, to educate the youth about the risks of buying fake medicines online, in particular in relation to increasing number of COVID-19 online scams. Fake meds & COVID-19 – A call for broader engagement on this critical issue!

More and more reports of falsified COVID-19 medical products are emerging on a nearly daily basis from all around the world. The World Health Organization (WHO) also just issued a falsified medical product alert for falsified chloroquine products circulating in Cameroon, Niger and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
