The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Tanzania’s Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of Nigeria (EFCC). The Global Fund and these national offices have agreed to share intelligence in order to facilitate the investigation of networks suspected of manufacturing and distributing fake medicines. As stated by the Director General of the Tanzania FDA, Hiiti Sillo: “Spurious, falsely-labelled, falsified, counterfeit drugs are silent murderers.”
