Last week concluded the 2014 Global Forum on Access to Safe Medicines attended by Fight the Fakes partners International Council of Nurses (ICN), Institute of Research Against Counterfeit Medicines (IRACM), International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers & Associations (IFPMA) and the Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV).
The Global Forum allowed for stakeholders to discuss, present and explore ways to make medicines safer worldwide, tackling drug counterfeiting and supply chain security as well as international strategies and emerging technologies in anti-counterfeiting.
IRACM’s Bernard Leroy and ICN’s David Benton spoke on the subjects “The requirement for an international treaty on counterfeit medicines” and “Front-line vigilance: essential for patient and population health”, respectively.
