Lesotho has conducted its first official forum to discuss the threat of fake medicines and other fake health products to the country. The forum worked to raise awareness of the fast growing problem of counterfeit medicines in Lesotho and the lack of legislation available to protect the public from these dangerous products. Director of the National Drug Stockpile Organisation (NDSO) stated that fake medicines make up to 30% of the national drug supply, and the number is rising. During the forum a multi-team proposal of the Lesotho Nurses Association recieved a grant from the World Health Pharmaceutical Alliance (WHPA) to inform the public of the risks of counterfeit drugs.
