Our Fight the Fakes partners Fondation Chirac and the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations (IFPMA),  in partnership with DIA, will host a workshop on counterfeit medicines titled “Integrated approach against fake medicines” on 29 April in Dakar, Senegal (see here for program in EN and FR). The workshop will be held on margins of the 4th African Regulatory Conference (ARC)- Moving Towards Regulatory Harmonization to Enhance Access to Medicines in Africa,  27-28 April 2015.

An absent or weak national regulatory system is referenced by the World Health Organization as a key encouraging factor for medicine counterfeiters. The counterfeits  workshop will serve as venue to discuss best practices in combating fake medicines.

The current regulatory landscape, supply chain integrity, new technologies and methods for screening and monitoring of fake medicines will be discussed. The workshop participants will include regulatory affairs professionals, national authorities and other professionals involved in or interested in fighting fake medicines. Simultaneous translation in French and English will be provided.

Fight the Fakes will also welcome friends and partners to a networking reception on the evening of April 28th.

Details on the workshop and online registration can be found on the  IFPMA website.
