Highlights from this spring’s workshop in Dakar, Senegal on fake medicines, organized by  Fight the Fakes partners Fondation Chirac and the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations (IFPMA), together with Develop Innovate Advance (DIA).

Fake medicines are a global problem, but they are posing a particular challenge in Africa, where in some countries, 30 to 60% of all medicines could be  fake. During the workshop, attendees including regulators, government officials, public health workers and the private sector showed commitment to eradicating this global threat to public health— sharing with the public that fake medicines can kill.

The video features among others, Marc Gentilini, President of Fondation Chirac, Emilienne Yissibi Pola, from the Organisation for Cooperation in Fight Major Endemic Diseases in Africa, Margareth Ndomondo-Sigonda from New Partnership from Africa’s Develpment and Cynthia Genolet, from IFPMA.
