Today the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) launches a campaign to raise public awareness about the dangers of counterfeit products.

Counterfeit: Don’t buy into organized crime” shines a light on the illicit trade that manufactures and distributes counterfeit goods and the widespread health, social and ethical consequences that follow as result. Fake medicines pose a particular threat to public welfare, as they trick patients into believing they are receiving genuine treatment when really they are putting their health and even their lives at risk.

The campaign kicked off with a PSA— “Look Behind” — launched on the NASDAQ screen at Times Square, New York City.
