Fight the Fakes partners the European Healthcare Distribution Association (GIRP) and Medicines for Europe are co-hosting the Safer Europe Without Falsified Medicines conference, organized in the context of the Estonian Presidency of the EU Council. The event takes place on November 8th and 9th in Tallinn, Estonia, and looks into the implementation of the safety features of medicinal products in Europe by governments and stakeholders as well as its challenges. By February 2019, all EEA countries should indeed run IT-based detection systems for all prescription-only medicines to detect falsified medicines in the legal chain. Representatives of the whole supply chain, of the European Medicines Agency and of civil servants from the health sector will participate in the debates.
Monika Derecque-Pois, Director General of GIRP, and Adrian Van der Hoven, Director General of Medicines for Europe, will speak up about the threat of fake medicines and will promote the Fight the Fakes campaign in a few sessions.
