Drug importation and illegitimate medicines in the US

Report on Counterfeit Drugs

The possibility for falsified medicines to access the market is determined by multiple factors, but appropriate legal tools – both to control and regulate the supply chain and to punish the suppliers – are the cornerstone of the fight against counterfeit drugs. Fight the Fakes partner, Partnership for Safe Medicines, asked the former FBI Director Louis Freeh to investigate the current state of play of drug supply in the US. The Report on Counterfeit Drugs gives a comprehensive overview of illegitimate medicines in the US, explains the challenges encountered by the authorities trying to combat them and suggests law enforcement measures that could facilitate the removal of fake medicines from the US market.
